Master Plans, Future Expansion

November 18th, 2009 | Print This Post

Thanks to the work of the Strategic Planning Team, we now have a master plan pertaining to future expansion of our facilities and surrounding property.  As has already been stated, the purpose of this plan is not to answer the question of “when” or even “how”, but rather “what” we need to focus on next as we seek to meet the needs of a growing church.  The plan presented several weeks ago is now on display in the Grand Hall.  We knew that Sunday School space would be a challenge from day one and that prediction has certainly proved to be an accurate one.  I want to thank you for the flexibility you have shown in your willingness to move around to different spots and so often move in a little closer to make room for just one more person in your room.  What a glorious problem to have, and yet it is an issue we must continue to address.   Preschool needs continue to be one of our greatest challenges, but thanks to the constant vigilance of Laura and her team, we are trying to stay on top of it.   That age group needs space and a lot of it.  We are exploring the idea of strategically starting a third Sunday School.  Right now our plans are to find some adult classes that could meet at 8:00 prior to the first morning worship service.  This could help free up some much needed space at 9 and 10:30.  We are exploring a lot of options, but right now this seems to be the best overall solution for some immediate results.  In the mean time, we need to continue to whittle down and wipe out our debt so that we can gear up for the next phase of building in the very near future.

“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back, lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.  For you will spread out to the right and to the left, your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.”

Isaiah 54:2-3
