Together We Serve
July 23rd, 2009 |

I know at times that I sound like a broken record. Okay, maybe I need to stop and explain that phrase to the younger generation. Back in the day, if your grandparents or maybe great grandparents wanted to listen to music, they did not reach for their iPod, but instead they would pull out their LP, which is short for long playing record. Pretty creative, huh? Anyway, these vinyl albums were played on a turntable via a needle. One of their downfalls was that they had a tendency to get scratched. When they did, they would often get stuck and play the same thing over and over again. It was, of course, annoying and from this dilemma the phrase “sounds like a broken record” was birthed to describe someone who says the same thing over and over again. Now, back to my original thought. I know that I have said it before, but I want to say it again. I feel so blessed to be a part of something so unique as DeSoto Hills and quite frankly, so should you. Don’t get me wrong. We have not arrived. There is certainly much more than needs to be done, but the future is bright because of the atmosphere of love and cooperation that abides here. This is especially evident in the deacon body. These men genuinely care about our mission and seek to be a constant encouragement to the staff. It is time once again for you to “look out among you” and choose some men to continue the tradition of service that has always been a priority of our deacon body. Scattered throughout our building you will find forms to nominate men to serve in this position. If those nominated are eligible and willing to serve, their names will be placed on a ballot and voted on in September. Nominations need to be in by Sunday, August 2. Please make this a matter of prayer. As it was in the New Testament, godly deacon leadership is vital for the continuing growth and health of DeSoto Hills.
Together we serve,
Bro. James
